The adequacy of the directional and envelope procedures for design main wind force resisting system is not well understood. purpose this study to evaluate based on tunnel test data a set low-rise enclosed buildings with gable-shaped roofs in open terrain (Exposure C). base shear conditional reliability index are used determine procedures. was compared each direction horizontal component load wall roof. index, β occurrence speed computed range capacities. findings (1) procedure produced larger procedure, primarily due difference external pressure coefficients, (2) provided higher β, (3) that did meet standard target equal 3.0 systems low variability capacity, but neither met high capacity.
